Surface Preparation

Wood must be sanded with a #120, 150 or 180 grit paper and free of dust and all contaminants. Before application of the topcoat, sealer must be sand with a 280/320 grit paper. V-Seal must not be used over metal, old oil finish or cellulosic finish.

General Information

Apply 3-4 mils wet on sanded surface by spray. If more than 4 mils, sanding becomes difficult. Never exceed a thickness of 5 mils by coat as the solvent will remain trapped in the film and this may cause stress in the film. Maximum film build of the sealer should not exceed 1 mil dry. Maximum film build of the system should not exceed 4 mils dry.

To obtain complete cure, the product must be applied at a temperature above 18ºC and relative humidity below 65%. When drying, this product is not to be exposed to ammonia vapors. Finished surface must not be cleaned with ammonia containing products.

Dry times are greatly affected by film build, porosity of substrate, air movement as well as heat and humidity. Temperatures are based on actual board temperature. This may vary depending on length of time for boards to reach these temperatures. Minimum curing temperatures of 64°F/18°C must be maintained throughout the curing cycle to achieve the film integrity as stated in product features.
