Surface Preparation

Substrate must be sanded using 120, 150 or 180 grit stearated paper prior to glazing. Sealers should be sanded immediately prior to being coated with 280/320 grit stearated paper. Appropriate sealers are Chemcraft 275 sealers.

General Information

Agitate material before use. Chemglaze 275 must be agitated thoroughly at all times to ensure product consistency and consistent gloss. After application and wiping, brush blending, highlighting and drying, Chemglaze can topcoated by system-suitable Chemcraft 275 topcoats. Application by spray. After application, allow one or two minutes and then the product can be wiped, brushed and highlighted. Wipe clean and remove any excess glaze to ensure optimum adhesion by subsequent clear coats. Adhesion of the system must be thoroughly checked as the type of coatings used, the amount of glaze applied and wiped off and the time of dry all affect the overall system adhesion. As a rule vinyl sealers provide improved adhesion characteristics.

Chemglaze 275 SB Stain 825-4010 may be tinted with up to 15% by volume of 824 line G-P-D colorants from. All systems must be checked for suitable adhesion and film properties before use. It may be clear coated with any of the Chemcraft solvent based products Chemlack 275 441-51XX, EVar 275 421-84XX, Varicure® 275 431-17XX and Chemlack Express 275 441-22XX as well as the sealers associated with these systems.
Please note that in systems containing catalyzed or pre-catalyzed coatings, such as Plastofix and Opticlear, the coating under the glaze should be sanded and the topcoat must be applied within eight (8) hours of the first coating being sanded.

THE CUSTOMER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR FOLLOWING THE RECOMMENDED APPLICATION PROCEDURES. FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THE RECOMMENDATIONS GIVEN IN THIS DATA SHEET WILL LIKELY RESULT IN UNSATISFACTORY FILM APPEARANCE OR FILM FAILURE. THE COMPLETE COATING SYSTEM SHOULD BE CHECKED FOR REQUIRED PROPERTIES PRIOR TO THE START-UP OF PRODUCTION.

Dry times are greatly affected by film build, porosity of substrate, air movement as well as heat and humidity. Temperatures are based on actual board temperature. This may vary depending on length of time for boards to reach these temperatures. Minimum curing temperatures of 64°F/18°C must be maintained throughout the curing cycle to achieve the film integrity as stated in product features.
