Wood Sealer

When used as a one-component, mix 100 parts by volume of 458-1288 Reslack Sealer Thix with 2.0 parts by volume of each 881-1202 accelerator and 872-1202 hardener. Note: The accelerator and the Hardener must never come in contact with each other. Add accelerator and stir well, then add hardener and stir well. When used as a two-component, first container mix 100 parts by volume of 458-1288 and 4.0 parts by volume 872-1202 hardener, second container mix 100 parts by volume 458-1288 and 4.0 parts by volume of 881-1202 accelerator.  Adjust mixing ratio between containers 1:1

Surface Preparation

Apply to MDF after sanding substrate with 120/150 grit paper. To obtain maximum adhesion over MDF and for use over wood, application of the urethane washcoat is required. After curing, the washcoat should be sanded with 240 grit paper.

General Information

Agitate material before use and while adding accelerator and/or hardener per mixing ratio. To ensure product consistency, the mixed material should be agitated at all times. Times between coats for wet on wet spray are about 20 minutes so the sealer will gel in order to give good intercoat adhesion. The topcoat must be applied within 8 hours following sanding of 458-1288 Reslack Sealer Thix. It may be overcoated with ora Verde Chiaro 436-48XX, ora Verde Acrilico 436-38XX or Reslack Clear 458-1290.

With profiled doors, care must be taken with sanding of the primer to avoid sanding through on sharp edges. Complex profiles or profiles with sharp corners may cause difficulties in obtaining an effective prime coat of even film thickness. In these cases, profile design must be discussed with your technical representative. Maximum film build of 458-1288 should not exceed 20 mils dry.

THE CUSTOMER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR FOLLOWING THE RECOMMENDED APPLICATION PROCEDURES. FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THE RECOMMENDATIONS GIVEN IN THIS DATA SHEET WILL LIKELY RESULT IN UNSATISFACTORY FILM APPEARANCE OR FILM FAILURE. THE COMPLETE COATING SYSTEM SHOULD BE CHECKED FOR REQUIRED PROPERTIES PRIOR TO THE START-UP OF PRODUCTION.

Dry times are greatly affected by film build, porosity of substrate, air movement as well as heat and humidity. Temperatures are based on actual board temperature. This may vary depending on length of time for boards to reach these temperatures. Minimum curing temperatures of 64°F/18°C must be maintained throughout the curing cycle to achieve the film integrity as stated in product features.
