Product Description
Isolante Sealer is a two component ‘tie-coat’ polyurethane type sealer that is designed to improve the adhesion between topcoats and substrates where poor adhesion would otherwise be obtained. These would include a wide variety of plastics, stained or exotic woods.
Uses
Isolante Sealer is normally used as a washcoat applied directly to the substrate in order to ensure good adhesion and oil blocking properties. It is suitable for all types of wood, MDF, veneers and some type of plastic.

Directions for Use
Surface Preparation
Wood must be sanded with a 120, 150 or 180 grit paper and free of dust and all contaminants. Plastic substrates should be scuffed with Scotch Brite to improve adhesion. Substrates that cannot be sanded should be wiped clean and degreased if possible.
General Information
Mix product with hardener and reducer to the recommended viscosity. Apply 2 to 4 wet mils on a sanded surface. Let dry for 30 to 60 minutes and apply the desired topcoat. If the drying time exceeds 4 hours, sanding is required to keep a good adhesion. Once catalyzed with 999-0660, this product will contain isocyanates. Take necessary precautions for the handling and use of this product. See MSDS. Total dry film build of Isolante should not exceed 1 dry mil. The total system build will be dependent upon the topcoat applied.
For a complete system cure, the system must be applied at a temperature above 18ºC and relative humidity below 65%.
Complete system must be verified and approved by AkzoNobel before going on production.
Suitable topcoats include Lustrate, Chemlite, Reslack and Plasticolor. Others may be recommended as well, speak with your technical sales representative.
THE CUSTOMER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR FOLLOWING THE RECOMMENDED APPLICATION PROCEDURES. FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THE RECOMMENDATIONS GIVEN IN THIS DATA SHEET WILL LIKELY RESULT IN UNSATISFACTORY FILM APPEARANCE OR FILM FAILURE. THE COMPLETE COATING SYSTEM SHOULD BE CHECKED FOR REQUIRED PROPERTIES PRIOR TO THE START-UP OF PRODUCTION.

Dry times are greatly affected by film build, porosity of substrate, air movement as well as heat and humidity. Temperatures are based on actual board temperature. This may vary depending on length of time for boards to reach these temperatures. Minimum curing temperatures of 64°F/18°C must be maintained throughout the curing cycle to achieve the film integrity as stated in product features.
These products are designed for industrial use only. AkzoNobel views safety as a top priority. Please refer to Material Safety Data Sheet for information on the safe use of this product.
