Surface Preparation

Wood substrate must be sanded using 120, 150, or 180 grit paper prior to staining.  On wood such as maple, coarser sanding, such as 150 grit, should be performed to avoid polishing of the wood surface.  Hand sanding in the direction of the grain following orbital sanding will remove swirl marks.

General Information

Product must be thoroughly agitated before use and during application for color consistency. Apply a wet coat of the spray stain on the sanded surface. Let dry a minimum of 30 minutes air dry before the application of the sealer. Keep under mixing to assure consistency of the product.

Product can be tinted with 844 tints up 10% by volume and/or with 890-12XX dyes at a maximum of 3% by volume.

THE CUSTOMER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR FOLLOWING THE RECOMMENDED APPLICATION PROCEDURES. FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THE RECOMMENDATIONS GIVEN IN THIS DATA SHEET WILL LIKELY RESULT IN UNSATISFACTORY FILM APPEARANCE OR FILM FAILURE. Dry times are greatly affected by film build, porosity of substrate, air movement as well as heat and humidity. Temperatures are based on actual board temperature. This may vary depending on length of time for boards to reach these temperatures. Minimum curing temperatures of 64°F/18°C must be maintained throughout the curing cycle to achieve the film integrity as stated in product features.
