Surface Preparation

Substrate must be sanded using 120, 150 or 180 grit stearated paper prior to glazing. Sealers should be sanded immediately prior to being coated with 280/320 grit stearated paper. 

General Information

Prior to use, mix Chemglaze Clear carefully and reduce viscosity by adding approximately 50-100% reducer. Apply the reduced Chemglaze Clear by spraying or with a rag. Allow two to three minutes air drying before wiping. Wipe clean and do not leave on any excess material that may interfere with optimum adhesion. Chemglaze Clear must be thoroughly agitated to ensure product consistency.

Wipe on using a clean dry rag or spray on. Leave 2 - 3 minutes and wipe off. Air dry 45 to 60 minutes or air dry for 15 minutes at room temperature followed by at least 15 minutes at 158˚F. The customer is resonsible for following the recommended application precedures. Failure to adhere to the recommendations given in this Technical Data Sheet will likely result in unstaisfactory film appearance or film failure. The completed coating system should be checked for required properties prior to start-up of production. Product must be thoroughly agitated before use.

FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THE RECOMMENDATIONS GIVEN IN THIS DATA SHEET WILL LIKELY RESULT IN UNSATISFACTORY FILM APPEARANCE OR FILM FAILURE. THE COMPLETE COATING SYSTEM SHOULD BE CHECKED FOR REQUIRED PROPERTIES PRIOR TO THE START-UP OF PRODUCTION.

The suggested drying times must be adhered to in order to ensure proper adhesion.


Dry times are greatly affected by film build, porosity of substrate, air movement as well as heat and humidity. Temperatures are based on actual board temperature. This may vary depending on length of time for boards to reach these temperatures. Minimum curing temperatures of 64°F/18°C must be maintained throughout the curing cycle to achieve the film integrity as stated in product features.
