Surface Preparation:

Wood must be sanded with a 120 or 150 grit paper and free of dust and all contaminants. Before the application of the topcoat, the V-Primer must be sanded with a 280/320 grit paper. This primer must not be applied over metal, old oil finish or nitrocellulose lacquer.

General Information:

Agitate material before use. Keep under mixing to ensure product consistency. Apply one or two coats. A good sanding between coats with a #280/320 grit paper is necessary to obtain a good adhesion. This product could be catalyzed to enhance sanding properties but system must be evaluated and approved by AkzoNobel before going in production. For any information, contact your sales representative. If catalyzed, topcoat must be applied within 8 hours of sanding. Never apply more than 5 mils wet in one coat. Dry film thickness of V-Primer should not exceed 2 mils dry. Total dry film thickness of system should not exceed 5 mils dry.

To obtain complete cure, the primer must be applied at a temperature above 18ºC and relative humidity below 65%. When drying, this product is not to be exposed to ammonia vapors. Finished surface must not be cleaned with ammonia containing products.

Topcoats to use over 546-7257: 131-50XX, 131-51XX, 131-82XX, 117-30XX, 117-32XX, 421-67XX, 431-30XX, 484-6XXX, 421-72XX.

Apply 3-4 mils wet on sanded surface by spray. If more than 4 mils, sanding becomes difficult. Never exceed a thickness of 5 mils by coat as the solvent will remain trapped in the film and this may cause stress in the film. Maximum film build of the sealer should not exceed 1 mil dry. Maximum film build of the system should not exceed 4 mils dry.

Wood must be sanded with a 120, 150 or 180 grit paper and free of dust and all contaminants. Stain systems under acid catalyzed coatings should be acid stable.

General Information:

Apply 3-5 mils wet on sanded substrate. Allow one hour to dry at a minimum of 20ºC prior to topcoating. Sand with 280/320 grit paper before topcoating and ensure topcoat is applied within eight hours of sanding Chemseal.

Always mix Chemseal while adding catalyst and reducers in the recommended mixing ratios. Chemseal must be thoroughly agitated at all times to ensure product consistency. When catalyzed, avoid contact with metal surfaces.

Maximum film build of the sealer should not exceed 1 mil dry. Maximum film build of the system should not exceed 4 mils dry.

If used uncatalyzed, topcoat to use is 431-90XX. Catalyzed Chemseal can be overcoated with following topcoats: 421-55XX, 421-63XX, 421-67XX, 421-72XX, 482-3XX and 635-0XX.
